In 1975, with the objective of providing higher educational facilities to the students residing in and within the vicinity of this town, Dnyan Bharti Society was formed. With persistence and dedication of its members and the residents of this town, Senior College of Commerce and Arts was started in the years 1981 and 1984 respectively. This helped the residents of nearly four adjoining talukas of the erstwhile Thane district viz. Dahanu, Talasari, Jawhar and Mokhada.

In the year 1985, Junior College of Commerce was established. Later, in 1996 from the generous donation made by BSES, Junior College of Science was established. With the passage of time, a need was felt to introduce many more Post Graduation and Professional Courses. Keeping in mind the need of the hour and the increasing demand for such professionals, the College Management has decided to go for expansion of the current infrastructure.
